Defeating The Porpoise is a Thrash/Sludge/Stoner Metal Band from Orlando, FL, USA

The members are:

John Glennon - Guitars, Vox
Derren Carter - Drums

Here is an excellent hard-rocking duo you should all check out. Their bio should tell you all need to know about these hard-rocking riffsters.

"An Orlando based band with a sound drenched in thick fuzz, loud drums, and clouds of glaucoma medication, Defeating The Porpoise has set out to showcase their own brand of Stoner and Sludge Metal, rife with plodding riffs, harsh vocals, dissonant leads, and concussive rhythms.

Guitarist/ Vocalist John Glennon, and Drummer Derren Carter first met at college in late 2011. After finding a mutual love of metal, booze, and bong rips, the two decided to begin jamming together at John’s apartment studio (compete with angry noise complaints). When the World didn’t end on December 21st, 2012, the two took it as a sign to start a band, and Defeating The Porpoise was born.

Soon after, Glennon and Carter began getting together frequently to write riffs, discuss lyrical themes, and throw back a few tall boys, crafting their sound with every emptied can. Somewhere between bowls, the duo somehow managed to record their eponymous debut EP, and with a budget relegated mainly to chemical ingestion, the record had to be entirely self-produced, with mixing and mastering done by Derren Carter himself.

Since the release of their EP, Defeating The Porpoise look to continue writing and recording the heavy music that they love… if they can ever manage to pull themselves off the couch that is."

So after much drinking, partying and the end of the world that never happened the guys created this excellent band. Defeating The Porpoise is a superb blend of Sludge, Stoner and Thrash riffs to rock out to.

Their S/T debut EP is an excellent release that shows you off the guys talents brilliantly well. Especially the mixing and mastering done by Derren as this release sounds excellent from start to finish.

Obviously the guys have a great sense of humour built around booze and weed. Original - Maybe not. But they know how to write a mean brutal riff. Check out Weed The People and Stoked for more evidence. It may lack originality but give it a couple more of releases and I feel Defeating The Porpoise will have some killer material to slay people with.

But for now this EP is a great start in getting to know these great rockers. So headover to BandCamp and download this now on Buy Now Download.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
